Origin of Chainsaws:

Chainsaws were originally invented in the late 18th century. They were designed to assist in a medical procedure known as “symphysiotomy.”  This procedure was performed during childbirth when complications arose.

Two Scottish doctors namely James Jeffrey and John Aitken hold the title to invent the prototype of chainsaws in the 1780s. The size of chainsaws at that time was small, hand-cranked with a chain of serrated teeth. This tool made symphysiotomy easier and faster than traditional methods.

Evolution into a logging tool:

After bringing about great changes in the medical field, This tool later caught the attention of the timber industry, and thus by the 19th century, this tool was adopted to be used for cutting wood. The first versions were initially operated manually, but with the advancement of technology, they are now being operated by motors.
