Our story ends here is a love story just like a Bollywood movie.
It is written by a young and talented Pakistan author Sara Naveed. The novel
has emotion, love, as well as suspense. The story of the novel is set in
Pakistan. The novel is about the love story between Sarmad, who is
a terrorist while Mehar, who is the daughter of a retired army
officer. Being two greatly opposite forces, fate has something else for both of
them to get in love madly.
The story of the novel starts with a bomb blast in a market that
caused the loss of Omar, Mehar's younger brother. That was a very tragic moment
for Mehar’s family as he had only one brother which he lost in a deadly attack.
But since then, Mehar’s mother became very concerned about her kids after
losing her son. As time passes, things were coming back to their track. One
day, an adventurous trip to Swat valley was planned by the college where Mehar
studies. Mehar was very desperate to go there as her childhood memories
attached with Swat, and it has been long a very long time that she had been to
Swat.
On the other hand, Sarmad, along with his group, was also planning
to come to Swat for executing another deadly mission.
Here, Mehar comes home where she discusses with her parents about
her college trip to Swat Valley. Mehar’s mother was completely against it as
she already lost her beloved son in a suicide attack, and at that time the
condition of Swat was not stable and her mother does not want her daughter to
go there. But, Mehar was determined to go there, and because of this, she makes
efforts to get permission from her parents. Finally, she succeeded in her
mission and she was granted permission to go with her friends to Swat Valley on
one condition, given by her parents, and the condition was that. She has to get
engaged with her cousin, Hamza (who is also an army officer) after
returning from the trip. For going on the trip, she somehow agreed to it.
Way to Trip:
Here is the time when Mehar meets with Sarmad for the very first
time.
Since Mehar’s college bus was en route to Swat. The bus stayed for
a while at a hotel. Meanwhile, Sarmad was on another bus and coincidently
stopped at the same hotel where Mehar’s bus was. There Sarmad and Mehar met and
both were looking into their eyes at the shop. Then, Mehar’s friends distracted
her and asked her to get on the bus.
After staying for a while, both buses began to go to their
destination. Unfortunately, Mehar’s college bus met with an accident after
covering some distance. As the result, many students were injured. However,
Mehar was fell on the other side of the cliff as she was standing at the door
of the bus before it met with the accident. When Sarmad’s bus passed by the
site of the accident, it stopped and some passengers got off the bus and were
coming forward to help the injured ones. In those passengers, Sarmad was also
there. He rolled his eyes around the bus and looking for Mehar, and saying to
himself that where she has gone and is, she fine? But unfortunately, he
could not able to find Mehar. He was searching for her and found a piece of red
cloth that piece was torn from Mehar’s dupatta. Without thinking a moment,
Sarmad rushed down towards the cliff. Finally, he found Mehar; she was
injured and completely unconscious. Sarmad held her hand and took her in his
arms. He began to look for help. After 10 to 15 minutes of walking, Sarmad found a
jeep car, which was coming toward them. From the car, an old man asked him
about the injurious condition of Mehar, and Sarmad explained to him the
unfortunate scenario that happened to Mehar’s bus. In the car, there was a kind
lady too, who suddenly came out of the car and gave some water to Mehar. She
asked Sarmad what happened to her. Also asked, Is she (Mehar) your wife? At
first, he became speechless, but for saving her he had to lie, and confusingly,
he said, Yes! The lady urged Sarmad to take Mehar to her house as her pulse
rate was dropping down continuously and she needs urgent medical treatment. In a kind lady's house, there is her family doctor. In the beginning, Sarmad denied
it as he had to execute his mission along with his group. The man with the kind
lady also convinced Sarmad to take Mehar to their house, by doing
so, he does not have to bear the medical charges for her treatment.
Unexpectedly, Sarmad's phone rings, the call was from his group leader. He
informed him that armed forces have begun search operations against terrorists,
and advised him to remain alert, and go to any safer place. A sudden idea stuck
in Sarmad’s mind that to be at a kind lady’s house is the safest place for him
now as the armed force cannot reach him there. So, in the last, he decided to
take Mehar to their house.
In this way, they stayed for 11 days in a single room at the kind
lady’s house.
Here begin 11 Days:
The family doctor saved Mehar’s life, and she was out of danger
now. On the other hand, Mehar began to resuscitate. She started to become panic
after finding herself in an unknown room. So many worried thoughts were
rounding in her mind. How she has reached here who has brought her here, and
where are her friends, are they fine or not? Without wasting a moment there,
she decided to leave the house, but Sarmad does not want her to leave as this
was a golden opportunity for Sarmad to hide from the armed forces. At first,
she shouted at him that she won’t live with him in this room and told him that
she would leave the place as soon as possible, but Sarmad asked her to take a
rest for today and will leave the place tomorrow, but Mehar’s stubborn attitude
was troubling to Sarmad. But after some time, Mehar realized, she is
unnecessarily shouting at Sarmad, he was the person, who saved her life, and
thus she made herself calm down after some time, and said to herself, she will
call her parents the next morning and will go to find her friends too. But that
entire night, Mehar was terrified by the presence of Sarmad in the room.
The next morning, a young girl namely Sufi came to Mehar’s room
and asked about her health. She was the girl, who was going to get married
after a few days, and for this reason, she asked Mehar to stay with her till
her wedding as she does not have too many friends residing here. But Mehar told
her that she had to go back as her parents will be waiting for her, but due to
many requests by Sufi and Bari Apa, Mehar finally agreed to stay with them till
the wedding.
After getting familiar with Sufi, Mehar asked for her phone and
called her friend, Asma. Mehar asked about her and other friends’
health. She told Mehar that they all are fine, and asked her where she is? Mehar
told her that she is fine and lied to her she was mercifully rescued by her
relatives during the accident. After that, Mehar called her parents and
informed them, that she is absolutely fine and will come back after a few days.
In this way, days were passing and Sarmad and Mehar were busy in
the preparation for Sufi’s wedding, and slowly, they were coming close to each
other. The bond of their relationship becomes stronger day by day. Mehar does
not become terrified of the presence of Sarmad anymore, even though she feels
comfortable with his existence.
One day, Mehar wanted to talk with her mother and asked Sarmad for
a phone, but he clearly refused to give his phone to her as it was not just a
phone, but a secret device, with which he remains in touch with his extremist
group. However, that behavior of him undoubtedly shocked Mehar, she thought, about how he can refuse to give her his phone, but the next day, Sarmad brought a
mobile phone for Mehar as she does not have to ask anyone for the mobile phone
for talking with her parents.
On the 8th day, finally, the wedding day of
Sufi comes. All customs and rituals were executed accordingly while on the
other hand, Sarmad and Mehar’s affection has extended to a greater level.
It was on the 10th day when Mehar finally expressed
her feelings to Sarmad. When she confessed her love to Sarmad. She also
expressed that he has become an important part of her life. However,
Sarmad does not want her to come closer to him as he was the terrorist
and his group was responsible for taking away the life of her beloved brother, Omar.
At the same time, Sarmad was having the feeling of guilt that how
that person can fall in love with him who he had taken the life of her beloved
and destroyed her family’s peace. He does not want to live with this
contriteness anymore, and thus Sarmad divulged his truth. He told Mehar, he is
a terrorist, and his group was responsible for the bomb blast in which Omar
died. It was a very tragic moment for Mehar that she has fallen in love with
the wrong person. The tears were continuously rolling out of her eyes. She felt
heartbroken as her wounds become fresh.
On the 11th day, Mehar decided to go back
home. On her way home, she was still crying. Her heart was lunged in her chest
after separating from Sarmad.
Now, Mehar remains silent and misses Sarmad immensely after coming back from the trip.
One day, Mehar’s father informed her about the arrival of her
elder sister from Dubai for her engagement. At that moment Mehar’s heart sank
when she remembered that now she has to fulfill her promise which she did with
her parents before going on the Swat trip.
Compulsively, Mehar engaged with Hamza, but certainly, Mehar was
not happy as Sarmad was her life, not Hamza.
One day, Mehar wanted to talk with Sarmad, and for which she
switched on her phone. She kept her mobile phone switched off after separating
from Sarmad. While checking the numbers list there was an unknown number on
which Sarmad once called it from Mehar’s phone when they were in Swat, and when
she dialed that number, an old man took the phone from the other side, not
Sarmad.
Meanwhile, Mehar’s unhappy and uncomfortable behavior skepticizes
her elder sister, Sidra. She asked many times Mehar, what is the reason behind
this kind of behavior, but Mehar always answers her question that she is fine
and there is nothing that troubles her. But one night, Mehar had a nightmare
and screamed the name of Sarmad. At that moment, Mehar’s elder sister Sidra was
also present there. She asked Mehar who is Sarmad?; What is her relationship
with him? but Mehar answered her I do not know who is Sarmad as it was just a
nightmare.
CLIMAX Begins:
From this stage, the climax begins in the novel. When Mehar
decided to meet Sarmad. She does not want him anymore to get involved in
any sort of terrorist activity. Suddenly, certain words flashed in her mind,
which Sarmad told her when she was going back home after knowing his truth.
Sarmad told her, “ if you want to know his side of the
story, then meet an old person namely, Khan Baba, who lives in the Walled City.”
Then, Mehar went to that place to meet with Khan Baba to know the
other side of Sarmad’s story. For this reason, she lies to her parents that she
is going to her friend's house for finalizing her final year project.
Mehar reached Walled City where she found Khan Baba’s house, and
then she entered his house, but there was no one at the house. Later, she saw
photo frames that were covered with dust, but the faces were visible.
While keenly observing the photos, a pile of books fell off the shelf suddenly.
She began to run towards the door, but melodious music stopped Mehar as that
melodious sound was attached to her childhood memory, and began to say, I have
heard this melody before, and I still remember this sound clearly. That melody
has a connection with a person to whom she gifted that melodious journal for
bringing back her favorite bracelet that fell into the river in her childhood,
and it is due to this that Mehar began to call him his new name,
Superhero.
When Mehar read the entire journal, she got to know the superhero
is no one, but it is Sarmad. Mehar became shocked as well as happy, the
superhero of her childhood is Sarmad, who helped her to bring back her favorite
bracelet, and he also saved her life during the accident. In that journal,
Mehar also read that Sarmad was not responsible for the bomb blast, because of
which her brother, Omar died.
At the time of the blast, Sarmad was very helpless. He made
every possible effort to save Omar’s life, but unfortunately, he could
not.
Mehar became bothered after knowing the truth of Sarmad. She got
to know, Sarmad is innocent, (yet another reality was unknown to her
which she knew later). But at the same time, her love for
Sarmad becomes even more. Now Mehar does not want to lose Sarmad again as she
had already lost him for the 2nd time. For this reason, she
decided that she will prove him innocent at any cost even if she had to scarify
her life, and for this reason, she made up her mind to get help from her
father, but due to certain causes, she could not discuss the matter of Sarmad
with her father.
So, in the long run, Mehar ultimately decided to run away with
Sarmad for proving him innocent as well as getting him rid of the extremist
group. Sarmad comes in the early morning, picked up Mehar from her house, and
took her to Muree.
In Muree, Sarmad got the call on his phone and informs somebody
that Mehar is with him and she is safe, and he will bring her to him tonight.
Thus, he brought Mehar back to Lahore in his house.
Sarmad left her alone in the house and went somewhere. After
some time, the door knocks. Earlier, Mehar became frightened, but somehow she
opened the door. She saw Sarmad standing at the door. Along with him, her
father (General Sahib) was there too, and his presence undoubtedly dismayed
her.
Before Mehar could say anything, General Sahib interrupted her
and revealed another reality of Sarmad that he did not share even with
Mehar. General Sahib told Mehar that Sarmad is not a terrorist, but a
secret agent of the armed forces, and he works for the armed forces by being
part of the extremist group. After listening to it, Mehar’s hands come to
her mouth. She shook her head in incredulity as she could not get what to do or
say.
In the next scene of the novel, Mehar’s father (General) asked
Sarmad to leave this country and go far away from all including Mehar. He would
not have any reason to stay here as his group is going to be behind the bars
soon nor there is a future for their relationship as well. In the beginning, he
felt disheartened, and then he agreed with what General Sahib has asked him to
do. At the same time, Sarmad requested General Sahib that before the raid,
he wanted to visit Khan Baba (a man, who looked after Sarmad after his
father’s death and handed over him to the head extremist group) for the
last time, and General Sahib granted the permission to him.
Sarmad stayed for a night at Khan Baba’s place. The next
morning, Khan Baba asked Sarmad to get ready as it is Friday, and he has
arranged his clothes, and there was a waistcoat for him too. Khan helped Sarmad
to wear the coat, but suddenly Khan holds Sarmad very tightly and said he has
got to know that you are deceiving us as you are a spy agent. Sarmad became
shocked after listening to these words. Khan also told Sarmad, he was being
spied on since he returned from Swat. Then a harsh conversation was exchanged
between both of them. In the last, Khan reveals the waistcoat, he is wearing
just not a coat, but it is a time bomb that will blast in a few hours, and it
will also blow off if he tries to take it off.
On the other hand, Mehar became worried as Sarmad did not call her
since she returned from Muree. On the same day, Sarmad contacted Mehar and told
her that he wants to meet her. He told her the place where he wants to meet
Mehar. While going to meet with Sarmad, Mehar met with Hamza (her fiancé). She
told him that she loves Sarmad, but not him, and Hamza was not shocked at all
by the revelation of her love story as Mehar’s father already told him about
that.
Hamza asked Mehar to go to her lover i.e. Sarmad. As well, Mehar’s
father also welcomed this decision by Hamza. At the same time, General Sahib
phoned Sarmad and informed him that Mehar is coming to him with a piece of good
news.
Mehar reached the place where Sarmad was. She came closer and
hugged him, but Sarmad was going away from Mehar. He told her to stay away from
him as there is a bomb in his waistcoat. She shouted, and told Sarmad to let
her call Abba so he can get a solution to get away from this trouble, but it
was already too late. Mehar was coming closer to Sarmad as he was everything to
her without him there is no life, and in the last, Mehar hugged Sarmad, and
suddenly a massive explosion occurred. In this way, their story of love ends
here.
