SEMESTER SYSTEM IS AN EFFECTIVE
TEACHING AND LEARNING SYSTEM:
Examinations are necessarily
taken for the evaluation of a student in every educational institute as it is a
way to know; what is the learning level of a student? ; how much knowledge has
he gained throughout the academic year? or what gaps are still existing in
students’ learning.
The examination process is usually divided into two systems .i.e.
Semester System and Annual System.
Despite being costly, the semester system is considered to be an effective
teaching as well as a learning system. The semester system is further divided
into 2 equal portions in the academic year. In each semester examinations are conducted
after a period of 6 months. In the same way, the next semester goes for the rest
of 6 months.
Here are some reasons for which semester system is considered to be
an effective teaching and learning system.
1. EFFECTIVE LEARNING
It is certain, in the semester system students learn more effectively
and productively than the annual system. As well, a student remains very active and enhances
his or her learning levels in the semester system.
2. LESS BURDEN
It is also a fact that in the semester system a student has less
burden of the syllabus. It is also beneficial for students as they do not have many
topics for the preparation of exams. Moreover, they do not have unnecessary stress
during the academic year as well.
3. DIVISION OF SUBJECTS
In the semester system, students have the opportunity to study more
subjects than the annual system. After every six months, students have a new
subject replaced with another subject that was taught them in the previous semester.
4. INTERACTION
Interaction between a teacher and student is very necessary for
effective learning. It is much needed in curriculum activities too. Thus, a
student interacts with the teacher as well as classmates more actively in the semester
system.
